TLDR — You may incur a fine of €1,500 per undeclared account, increased to €10,000 per account if the account is held in a State or territory that does not have with France the administrative assistance agreement provided for by law.

€1,500 fine per account

Failure to declare an account held abroad may result in a fine of €1,500 for each undeclared account.

Fine increased to €10,000

The fine is increased to €10,000 per undeclared account when the account is held in a State or territory that has not concluded with France an administrative assistance agreement allowing access to bank information as part of the fight against tax fraud and evasion.

Application year by year

The fine may be applied for each year that is not time-barred for which the declaration was required to be filed. The assessment is therefore made for each year covered by the reporting obligation.
